Teen Counseling Services in Denver, Colorado

Are you a teen wanting to try therapy, or a parent who is concerned about your teen?

I have years of experience working with adolescents and teens. If you or your teen is struggling with feelings of depression, anxiety, isolation, self-harm, disordered eating, or other challenges, I am here to help. Being a teenager is one of the hardest periods of time in one’s life, and all teens can benefit from having an outside, neutral perspective to talk to and confide in. I personally saw a therapist as a teenager, and this is what inspired me to enter the field of counseling. I love being able to support people in such an important and delicate time in their lives.

  • I am passionate about supporting those in their teen years. I am compassionate, nonjudgmental, and honest. I won’t speak to you like you’re a kid. I also love incorporating creative aspects such as art, music, and the outdoors into therapy.

  • Aside from the first part of our intake session, I see teens individually for therapy. I don’t provide family therapy, but I’m happy to provide referrals if desired. I find that teens appreciate having a space separate from their parents to share.

What we’ll work on

Therapy to meet your teens specific needs

One of the most important parts of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. I spend time making sure your teen feels comfortable and safe, and work on buildling a trusting relationship.

We’ll address symptoms such as panic, self harm or other impulsive urges, and identify specific strategies to ground and regulate in the moment. I incorporate tenets of DBT including distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Examining thinking patterns can be an important part of therapy. Together, we can look at negative self-talk and scary thoughts that might be coming up, and identify ways to challenge and reframe your mindset.

Sometimes, there are deeper traumas that can be causing emotional dysregulation. If this is the case, I am trained in EMDR, a type of therapy specialized to treat trauma.
